Before the work could complete, Prince Muhammad Azam was recalled by Aurangzeb. In the period of Shaista Khan did not complete the work, though he stayed in Dhaka up to 1688.
Outstanding among the monuments of the Lalbagh Fort are the Tomb of Pari Bibi (Fairy lady) died here in 1684 and led him to consider the fort to be ominous. Audience room and Hummam Khana (bathing place) of Nawab Shaista Khan, now housing a museum.
Lalbagh fort was long considered of three buildings:
1. The mosque
2. The tomb of Bibi Pari
3. The Diwan-i-Aam, comprising two gateways and a portion of the partly damaged fortification wall.
